Улучшению прогноза способствуют такие факторы, как снижение напряженности домашней обстановки и поддержание постоянного запахового профиля в доме. Целесообразно также долгосрочное использование феромонов, распыляемых в виде аэрозолей или с помощью диффузора.
Для оценки результатов лечения необходим хороший контроль. Передавая клиенту план лечения, уместно попросить его принести запись своих наблюдений через 7-10 дней. Цель -установить, снижается ли частота проявлений проблемного поведения, а в случае нечистоплотности - чаще ли кошка стала пользоваться туалетом. Возможно, что у нее уже начала формироваться такая привычка, а если нет, то контрольная встреча или телефонный разговор позволит выяснить, есть ли необходимость

зависимости от реакции животного на терапевтическое вмешательство; они могут включать испытания наполнителей для кошачьего туалета, увеличение продолжительности содержания кошки взаперти, использование дополнительных кошачьих туалетов или изменение мест их расположения. Успех зависит от давности возникновения проблемы, числа мест пачканья и прилежания владельца в выполнении плана лечения (Marder, Friedmen, 1998). Владельцы должны ежедневно осматривать свой дом в поисках возможных свидетельств дефекации или мочеиспускания в недозволенных местах. Как только проявления нечистоплотного поведения в доме станут реже, нужно предоставить питомцу больше свободы в его перемещениях по дому, сохраняя строгий надзор на ранних этапах этого процесса.
