But Kahp-too-'oo-yoo handed to each an ear (но Кахп-ту-'o-йу протянул каждому по початку; to hand — давать, передавать, вручать; разносить блюда /во время еды/), and said:
"Fathers (отцы), brothers (братья), go now to your own houses (идите теперь в свои собственные дома), for there you will find corn as much as here (ибо там вы найдете кукурузы так же много, как и здесь)." And when they went (и когда они пошли), it was so (было так). All began to roast corn and to eat (все начали жарить кукурузу и есть); and the dead in the houses awoke (и мертвые в домах оживали; to awake) and were strong again (и снова становились: «были» сильными), and all the village sang and danced (и вся деревня пела и танцевала; to sing).

At the sweet smell of the roasting corn came the starving neighbors, crowding at the door, and crying: "O Kahp-too-'oo-yoo! Give us to taste one grain of corn, and then we will go home and die."
But Kahp-too-'oo-yoo handed to each an ear, and said:
"Fathers, brothers, go now to your own houses, for there you will find com as much as here." And when they went, it was so. All began to roast corn and to eat; and the dead in the houses awoke and were strong again, and all the village sang and danced.

From that time there was plenty of rain, for he who had the power of the clouds was at home again. In the spring the people planted, and in the fall the crops were so great that all the town could not hold them; so that which was left they brought to Shee-eh-wh'ib-bak (Isleta), where we enjoy it to this day.
As for the false friend (что касается неверного друга), he died of shame in his house (он умер от стыда в своем доме), not daring to come out (не осмелившись выйти; to dare — осмеливаться); and no one wept for him (и никто о нем не плакал; to weep).

As for the false friend, he died of shame in his house, not daring to come out; and no one wept for him.
The Little Boy Man (Маленький Мальчик = Малыш; man — мужчина, человек)
At the beginning of things (на заре мира: «в начале всех вещей»), He-who-was-first-Created (Тот-кто-был-первым-Сотворен = Созданный Первым) found himself living alone (обнаружил себя живущим в одиночку = понял, что существует один). The earth was here before him (земля была здесь перед ним), clothed in green grass and thick forests (одетая зеленой травой и густыми лесами), and peopled with the animal tribes (и заселенная стадами животных; to people — заселять, населять; tribe — племя; клан, род; семейство; поколение). Then all these spoke one language (тогда все говорили на одном языке; these — эти; to speak), and the Lonely One was heralded by them (и они разносили весть об Одиноком; to herald — возвещать, разносить весть о ком-либо, чем-либо; herald — герольд; глашатай) everywhere as he roamed (везде, где он бродил) to and fro over the world (туда-сюда по миру; to and fro), both upon dry land (и

At the beginning of things, He-who-was-first-Created found himself living alone. The earth was here before him, clothed in green grass and thick forests, and peopled with the animal tribes. Then all these spoke one language, and the Lonely One was heralded by them everywhere as he roamed to and fro over the world, both upon dry land and in the depths of the sea.
One day (однажды), when he returned to his teepee from a long wandering (когда он вернулся в свой вигвам из далекого путешествия; to wander — бродить, странствовать, скитаться; teepee, tepee — вигвам индейцев), he felt a pain in his left foot (он почувствовал боль в своей левой ступне; to feel), and discovered a splinter in the great toe (и обнаружил занозу в большом пальце)! Drawing out the splinter (вытаскивая занозу), he tossed it upward (он бросил ее вверх; upward/s/ — наречие, указывает на "восходящее" направление или изменение) through the smoke-hole of the lodge (через отверстие для дыма в вигваме; lodge — /маленькое помещение, часто — для служебных целей, могущее служить временным пристанищем для кого-л./; домик; сторожка у ворот; палатка индейцев, вигвам). He could hear it roll and rattle down (он мог слышать, как она покатилась и задребезжала вниз) over the birch-bark covering (по крыше, крытой березовой корой; birch — береза; bark — кора), and in the instant (и в /то/ мгновение) that it touched the ground (когда она коснулась земли), there arose the cry of a new-born child (там раздался крик новорожденного ребенка; to arise)!

He-who-was-first-Created (Созданный Первым) at once came forth (сразу же вышел наружу) and took up the infant (и поднял младенца; to take up), who was the Boy Man (который был Юным Человеком: «Мальчик-Человек»), the father of the human race here upon earth (отец человеческой расы здесь на земле).

He-who-was-first-Created at once came forth and took up the infant, who was the Boy Man, the father of the human race here upon earth.
Now the little Boy Man grew and flourished (ну а маленький Юный Человек рос и развивался: «процветал»), and was perfectly happy (и был полностью счастлив) under the wise guidance of his friend (под мудрым руководством своего друга; to guide — вести, быть чьим-либо проводником; руководить) and Elder Brother (и Старшего Брата). Although he had neither father nor mother (хотя у него не было ни отца, ни матери; neither… nor — ни… ни), and only animals for playmates (и только звери в товарищи по играм; mate — товарищ, партнер), it is said that no child born of human parents (говорят, что ни один ребенок, рожденный человеческими родителями) has ever led so free and happy a life as he (/никогда не/ вел такой свободной и счастливой жизни, как он; to lead). In those days (в те дни = в то время), there was peace between the animals and the Boy Man (был мир между животными и Юным Человеком).
